In 1860, Albert Edward (Edward VII), Prince of Wales, went on a tour of North America, and included a stop in Newfoundland. He arrived on 23 July, but the official landing was the next day accompanied by much ceremony, including salutes fired by ships in the harbour. These included the Sésostris, on board which Miot served. The Sésostris appears to be the ship close to the near shore on the right.
We know from records of his work on hydrographic charts that Miot was on board the Sésostris in Newfoundland in 1860 and worked on a chart of Ingornachoix Bay. Another chart of Bay St. George shows that he returned to Newfoundland in 1861, also on board the Sésostris. See our bibliography under "Hydrographic Charts".
En 1860, Albert Edward (Edward VII), prince de Galles, a fait une tournée en Amérique du nord, avec un séjour à Terre-Neuve. Il est arrivé le 23 juillet mais le débarquement officiel fut reporté au lendemain, accompagné de grande pompe, avec des coups de canons tirés des navires dans le port. Ceux-ci comprenaient le Sésostris, à bord duquel a servi Miot. Nous croyons que le Sésostris était le dernier navire à droite, près du côté rapproché du port.
Sa participation à la préparation de plans hydrographiques
nous montrent que Miot se trouvait à bord du Sésostris en 1860
et à collaboré au plan de la baie d'Ingornachoix. Un autre plan
de la baie Saint Georges nous apprend qu'il est revenu à Terre-Neuve
