General Information about the List:  A listserv mailing list has been set up for each section of Phil 2801.  I will collect information about your email address from you in class and then subscribe you to the appropriate list for your section.  Once this has been done, you will be able to send email to everyone who has subscribed to the list simply by sending an email to the list's email address .  You will also receive any emails that are sent to the list.

The list has two main purposes: (1) to allow me to easily distribute information to the class by email and (2) to allow a place for out-of-class discussion of issues we deal with in the course.  Please keep in mind that any contributions you make to the discussion on the list will count toward your participation mark for the course. 

Subscribing to the List:  As mentioned above, I will take care of subscribing you to the class list.  Once I have done this, you will receive an email message containing information about using listservs, however, just about all the information you are likely to need appears below.

Using the List:  To send a message to the list, all you need to do is send an email message to the appropriate email address for your section of the class

For section 1: phil-2801001@mun.ca
For section 2: phil-2801002@mun.ca

Please keep in mind that any message sent to these addresses will go to everyone who has subscribed to the list.  If you want to send a message to me alone, use my regular email address (alatus@mun.ca).

You should also know that this is an unmoderated list.  That means I won't check the content of your message before it goes out to the whole list.  As such, you should follow the same rules of reasonable conversation you'd follow in class (or anywhere else).  While you can (and should) point out what you perceive as errors in what others might say, you should always do so politely and respectfully. 

Unsubscribing to the mailing list:  If, for any reason, you want to be removed from the mailing list, you can do so by sending an email to:
