Clar Doyle has worked as a high school teacher, school district supervisor and coordinator, and is presently Professor Emeritus at Memorial University. He holds degrees in English and Education from Memorial University, Newfoundland; Religious Studies from Providence College, Rhode Island; and Curriculum Studies from Boston University, Massachusetts. He is on the Founding Members Advisory Board of The Freire Project at McGill University.

Clar Doyle is published internationally, and is the author of Raising Curtains on Education (1993). He has co-authored, with Amarjit Singh, Reading and Teaching Henry Giroux (2006) and has published widely with his colleagues on critical pedagogy and reflection in teacher education. He is the author of twenty produced plays.
