FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DLB 304: Bram Stoker’s Dracula: A Documentary Volume is the first study of the novel that brings together in one book a comprehensive collection of primary and secondary materials to trace its gestation and composition, its publication, and its cultural legacy.

Edited by Elizabeth Miller, Professor Emeritus of the Memorial University of Newfoundland, this volume provides a biography of Stoker; an overview of the vampire legend that he reshaped; materials for understanding the historical, literary, social, and cultural contexts in which he wrote; facsimiles of his working notes and drafts; and critical and historical essays that assess the cultural influence of the novel. Separating facts from conjecture, DLB 304 provides a solid foundation for the reader who desires a clear understanding of Stoker’s Gothic masterpiece.

The forty-one DLB Documentary volumes published to date assemble rare and unique materials from libraries and private collections, thereby providing an unmatched resource for the enjoyment, study, and teaching of literature. The Dictionary of Literary Biography, now in its twenty-sixth year, is produced by Bruccoli Clark Layman for Gale Thomson, a part of The Thomson corporation.
