Loop antenna for receiving 507.77 kHz. It consists of 16 turns of #22 (or so) insulated wire on a square 20 inches to a side. Get 2 pieces of strapping 30"long and drill 2 holes 1/2" from the end. Put a peg in the holes (I used pieces of chop sticks) then bolt the 2 pieces of strapping together and wind the coil. Connect a 365 pF variable across the 16 turn coil and add a single turn pick-up (the yellow wire in the picture). Connect the ends of the yellow wire to a piece of coax and plug the other end into your RX. Try tuning the 365 pF variable for max signal with a strong AM station 540 kHz for ex. and then you can listen for VX9MRC by tuning it and pointing the loop in the right direction for max signal (the plane of the loop should point towards the transmitter). The loop may be rotated to null out a noise source that is in one direction. When tuning the capacitor, an insulated knob should be used.
