Getting There.
John in Frankfurt Airport

We left St. John's, Newfoundland on Tuesday, November 25. A very nice late autumn day, 3ºC, and sunny. Our Air Canada flight left on time at 12:45 for the 3 1/2 hour flight. Next stop was

Pat in Frankfurt Airport

Toronto which was overcast, -1ºC and light precipitation. Boarding the Air Canada Boeing 777 for

Frankfurt, Germany was next at 17:35. Settling into our seats for the 7 1/2 hour flight scheduled to arrive at 7:00 local time we hoped that we would get some sleep overnight.

and as we had 2 1/2 hours before leaving on the Lufthansa flight to Barcelona we wandered around a bit while we had the chance to stretch our legs. In making our way to our departure

gate we found a Passport Check where we officially entered the European Union and got our passports stamped. After another security check we found our gate.

Our flight to Barcelona , a Lufthansa Airbus 300, left practically empty at 9:35. We got beautiful view of the Alps (taken from N 47º21'24.7" E 7º32'59.8").

Barcelona was sunny and 7ºC at 11:30 when we arrived. There were no jet-ways where our plane parked and truck-mounted stairs pulled up to the plane for us to descend to the waiting busses. We met up with our traveling companions in the terminal and collected our luggage, all of which managed to arrive with us.

SEAT Taxis in Barcelona

There is an airport bus that costs 4.08 € per person. We hopped off at the Plaça d'Espanya and hailed two taxis for the six of us and our abundance of luggage. After cramming everything and everyone into the SEAT Cordoba and SEAT Toledo, it was a 10 minute ride to the Tryp Apolo (Avinguda Paralelo, 57-59). The taxis were 10 € per car. Check in was quick and we went straight to our rooms for a nap.
