IS POP CULTURE THE NEW RELIGION?
It has been suggested by a number of scholars that popular culture is "like" religion,"functions" as religion, or can do "religious work." Students in my 3rd year "Religion and Disney" course have explored these ideas through fan videos to uncover some of Disney's religious dimensions. Click the image above to watch one student's video interpretation of Disney's The Lion King. Click here to read the explanation of the video. Visit the Disney Fan Video page for many more student-made videos .
