Hannah Montana:
Who is ‘Miley Cyrus’?

Miley Cyrus became an overnight sensation when she became the star of the Disney Channel’s sit series “Hannah Montana” in 2006. The March debut drew 5.4 million viewers, the most ever for an original series on the channel.
Born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992, Miley is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus (made famous by his hit “Achy Breaky Heart”) She was named Destiny Hope because her parents believed that she would accomplish great things. Cyrus gained her nickname "Miley" because she kept smiling ("Smiley") as a small child. As of March 2008 she is in the legal process of changing her name.
Miley grew up on her parents' farm outside of Nashville and attended Heritage Middle School. Now, due to the over whelming success of ‘Hannah Montana’ and the subsequent concert tour, she has a private tutor.
Miley credits her success to her family life and her faith in her religion – in an interview with “Parade” she says that she attends church regularly with her family.

Unlike most of today’s ‘tween’ stars Miley has managed to keep herself out of the spotlight and free of controversy so far - which is more than I can say for some former Disney channel stars. Miley Cyrus seems to be a down to earth girl, who's very kind and loves life. She is a wonderful role model for preteens and teenagers. Never once has their been a picture of her coming out of a club inebriated and flashing her panties, or lack thereof (Paris, Britney, Lindsey should probably take note). She dresses like a fifteen year old girl should and not like that of a twenty five year old woman.
