CD, on "Mulan: Hero"

Many critics claim that women are hidden from the action in Disney movies. They argue that in fairy tales, Credit is usually given to men for performing heroic duties for a princess such as marrying her or saving her from danger. However, this is not the case in all Disney movies. In the face of danger, a hero or heroine is one to take charge, be courageous, and give up their identity to help others. Take Mulan for example, where a young woman disguises her identity and risks her life in order to protect her country and fight for her father. I believe this proves that not only men are heroes. In my opinion, Mulan proves to her people that women are strong as she adventures on this quest. Her triumphs and loyalty lead me to believe that these critics are wrong when accusing Disney of making women absent from action. Mulan is a true heroine and for this reason, I believe that the song Hero by Mariah Carey is a true depiction of Mulan's journey.
