Paul-Émile Miot, Photographe du Canada de l'Atlantique

1827-1900

Paul-Émile Miot was an officer in the French navy who had a keen interest in photograpy. He took photographs of Newfoundland, Cape Breton Island and the French islands of St-Pierre and Miquelon during the period 1857-60.

His work is among the earliest photographic records of Atlantic Canada and deserves to be better known. Please feel free to browse as you wish. Paul-Émile Miot était un officier de la marine française qui s'intéressait vivement à la photographie. Il a pris des photographies de Terre-Neuve, de l'île du cap Breton, et des îles françaises de St-Pierre et Miquelon pendant la période 1857-60.

Sa production s'inscrit parmi les documents photographiques les plus anciens du Canada atlantique, et mériterait d'être mieux connue.
