My name is Desta Frey and I joined the Gagnon lab as a MSc candidate after completing my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Toxicology at the University of Guelph in Ontario. I am fascinated by many aspects of marine biology, and I am looking forward to exploring effects of environmental variability on the behavioral repertoire of the green sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis, during my graduate program.

I love diving and travelling, and I am glad to have the opportunity to discover some of the interesting things that Newfoundland has to offer. I am looking forward to beginning my research at the OSC while continuing to learn as much as I can about the ocean.

My name is Caitlin Blain and I have joined the Gagnon lab as a MSc candidate. I recently moved to St. John’s after finishing my degree in biology at Vancouver Island University in British Columbia. I am looking forward to learning about east coast ecology and beginning my research. I have a wide range of interests in marine biology. For my masters, I will be focusing on the ecology of the brown alga, Desmarestia viridis.
