Trails of The Avalon Hike Number 18, Freshwater Bay - May 1999

These pictures were taken on a hike to Freshwater Bay, Spriggs Point and on to Blackhead. This is a really beautiful hike. Lots of scenery, whales in season, icebergs in the spring. Hike starts at a parking lot on the road to Cape Spear. Hike day was warm, not hot, early spring, no flies - a good time was had by all.
Hike details are available in the book, Trails of the Avalon by Bridget Neame and Peter Gard.

There also some fabulous trails on the East Coast Trail Association webpage.

This page still needs some edits and I have to resize the pictures. Click on any picture for a larger version. As soon as I find a nice way, I'll make the even larger versions available (in the meantime, the full-size images can be obtained by removing the "m-" from the web address.
