Trails of The Avalon Hike Number 24, LaManche Village- June 1999

These pictures were taken on a hike to the abandoned village of La Manche. Hike details are available in the book, Trails of the Avalon by Bridget Neame and Peter Gard.

There also some fabulous trails on the East Coast Trail Association webpage.

It was a bright sunny day, about 25 degrees C, little wind. The hike starts at the parking lot, Day Use Area of LaManche Provincial Park, about an hours drive south of St. John's on Route 10. From the parking lot you walk over to the start of the trail (site 59-60) and up a small trail to the Park's Fire Exit. You could also drive into a small parking area at the top of the trail and start from there. The hike is fairly easy with lots of scenery on the way and a magnificent seascape at the Village.

This page still needs some edits.Click on any picture for a medium sized version. As soon as I figure out a nice method, I'll make the larger version available.
