Trails of The Avalon Hike Number 21, Tinker Point - July 1999

These pictures were taken on a hike to Tinker Point. Hike details are available in the book, Trails of the Avalon by Bridget Neame and Peter Gard.

This hike is also one of the fabulous trails on the East Coast Trail Association webpage.

It was a bright sunny day, about 22 degrees C, little wind. The hike starts at the end of the paved road "Cod Sein Cove Road" in Mobile, about an hours drive south of St. John's on Route 10.

The hike is fairly easy with lots of scenery on the way and a magnificent seascape for most of the hike. On this hike there were several whales close to shore with the typical whale-watchers chasing them. Whale activity included spouts and tails. There are lots of birds to be seen along the hike, Kittiwakes and Puffins are in flight past you with hundreds of birds on the water. Kids can really enjoy this walk as its not too long and there's lots of interesting things ! Lots of blueberries on this walk.

This page still needs some edits. Click on any picture for a medium sized version. As soon as I figure out a nice method, I'll make the larger version available.
