Memorial University of Newfoundland Libraries Do Research from a Distance A guide designed to help you do research when you cannot get to a research library or to help you start your research before you go to the library. Doing Research from a Distance Access and Search the Libraries Catalogue UNICORN, the library's computer system, provides access to the Library Catalogue, Reserve Desk, and other databases. Access and search UNICORN on the Web through WebCat, or by Telnet. Catalogue View Periodical Indexes and Bibliographies Links to on-line periodical indexes and bibliographies (listed by subject). Databases on the Internet Receive Books/Articles from the Library Distance education students, who live outside of the St. John's telephone exchange area, can request the delivery of books and articles through Libline. Libline and Other Library Services for Distance Education Students Search the Internet A collection of links to assist you in using search engines, subject guides, directories, and meta-indexes to find what you need on the Internet. Search the Internet Evaluate Web Resources A site that discusses the need to evaluate Web sources and the challenges Web resources present. It also suggests criteria and evaluation techniques to apply to specific types of Web resources.
