A view of the subject of the Italian terror.  The MG armed FT-17 on the hill is a Matchbox model, while the other three are scratch-built from plastic card.  One FT-17 was hit by ATR fire which suppressed it.  Further hits resulted in the crew bailing.  Meanwhile, in conjunction with French troops on the hill to the north (right of this picture), they exchanged large amounts of fire with the ATR armed Italian squads on the road.
L-3s and infantryAnother picture of the above mentioned fire fight from the French side.
French MG squadFrench infantry (here an LMG serving as a Crossfire MG stand) fend off a fierce Italian attack on the northern flank.  There were unsuccessful and the Italians made it to the hill.

Don't ask me what happened to the wash on the prone LMG guy.  These plastic figures were painted 14 years ago, before I discovered flow extender type things, so maybe I missed it... Does paint in crevices fade?

Italian company commanderSome of the Italian infantry mentioned in the previous picture.  To the left (with a spare wheel on his stand - got to be prepared for any eventuallity, don't ya know!), an Italian company commander with transplanted head - who needs a medical degree to be a surgeon, anyway?  That's a radio aerial he's trying to grab.  The figures on the right are a stand representing a rifle squad.  Both are in the lee of the hill, just before going up and taking advantage of the NO FIRE situations and several suppressed (by Italian artillery) squads.

They did indeed run rampant atop the hill, but Tim still had his secret weapons, the dreaded FT-17s with which it was widely acknowledged, albeit extremely grudgingly (did I say I had a hearing problem?) that Tim's vastly superior generalship, combined with secret techniques of tactical combat learned from the real life Canadian Army (in whose armoured cars, Tim would have been in danger from the FT-17s, perhaps), plus a smattering of hygenics, wold have won the battle handily.  So the Italians surrendered.  Alternate accounts of the outcome of this battle abound....
