French tank traffic congestion...

Somua S-35s from 3rd Light Armoured division get in a traffic snarl with French infantry and Renaults garrisoning a near by town.

View through an 88 sight

The lead S-35 in the previous picture, through the sights of an 88 (see next frame)!  Somuas are Heller, French infantry are ESCI and FT-17s are Matchbox.  The S-35 in the sight above has had a track hit (mobility kill).

88

A poor picture, but the hapless Somua can be seen in the distance.  The 88 is the remains of an ancient Airfix piece, the SDKFZ 231 8 rad to its left is a converted Airfix 8 wheeled armoured car.  Infantry are a combination of Airfix & Matchbox.

Matilda 2s on a rampage

Two Airfix Matilda IIs on the move.  Neither is finished as they were hurredly painted the night before the game.  Tracks are bare and the models have not been black washed yet.  One of these is Chris Burton's, purchased in the mid 70's sometime and only just opened from the blister pack in time for this game... These and the Matilda Is are from 7 RTR.

scratch built Matilda Is

A troop of Matilda Is.  These are completely scratch built from plastic card and use the idle, sprocket and tracks from Fujimi Type 97 kits.  They are not complete, having been hurredly rushed into battle.  Tracks are not finished or completely fitted, crew and aerials are missing, black wash is noticeably absent and rear fenders, tow cables and other details aren't complete.  BTW, on their debut game, these fellows did indeed make a mess of SS troops...

.Stuck tanks

A screen of Matchbox and Fujimi Pak 35s attempt to stave off the assault of the Matilda Is.

Stuck tanks

Another group of S-35s, one of which is stuck in the river (a successful roll to suppress by the opposing side on a tank crossing the river with 2 dice caused the vehicle to be stuck).  Lurking in the distance can be seen the rear of a Matchbox 6 wheeled armoured car.  In a brilliant bit of platoon commanding, the platoon commander and another French tank left these three fellows out of command an unable to move (see the above S-35 pictures).

Sig 33

On the other side of the hill from the stranded S-35s, a German Heer infantry platoon has been pasted by mortar fire called from the French bunker on the hill.  A self propelled SiG 33 (scratch built superstructure on Fujimi panzer I) has been brought up to pummel the bunker.  A group of Panzerjaeger Is (Fujimi and ESCI) can also be seen cautiously coming up the side of the hill to try and take out the S-35s in the previous shot.

factory

Durham Light Infantry and SS troops mix it up around a train station/factory.  All figures are Matchbox & Airfix

38t

A platoon of Fujimi Panzer 38(t) (with one ESCI 35(t) stand in) moce down the down road.  The stricken 8 wheeled armoured car in the foreground (close assaulted by British infantry) is another converted Airfix 8 wheeler.
