Setup

The US battalion must set up on the edge of the western edge of the playing area up to the side of the raised road on the southern end of the board and occupying the first woods features and up to the cliffs of the Eastern Heights.

The German Volksgrenadiers must set up, hidden, anywhere not in the US setup area, and not on the hill on which the town is located.  AT guns, the panzerschreck platoon, Stugs and Sturmtiger may be placed in the town area.

Initial US Deployment

The views shown below were taken during the game and not in the beginning.  The Americans deployed all three of their companies.  Under Joe, A and B company and their two Shermans took cover along the raised road and the few woods features south of the river and Eastern Heights.  The three half tracks were assigned to a platoon in B company and kept off the board in reserve.  Derek Tittensor commanded C company which deployed with its Sherman north of the river in the shelter of the cliffs of Eastern heights and in the woods features to the south.  He also controlled the BC and the mortars which set up in the  NE corner.  These can be seen in the north view, below and you can click here for a close up view .
