Historical Text Archives: Europe

Links to a vast array of historical sites.  Topics range from general European history and archaeology (ex. wars, revolutions, & Vikings), to country specific topics and information.

BBC Education: Modern World History

This site provides an overview of various historical moments in European history, including such topics as 'The Rise of Hitler,' 'Fascism in Italy,' 'The Treaty of Versailles,' and 'Propaganda,' among others topics of historical significance.  Or simply follow the 'historical timeline' provided.

Michigan eLibrary: European History

Contains an assortment of links relevant to general European history.  Such topics include Anglo-Saxon Britain, the Victorian era, the Holocaust, and the chronology of the former Czechoslovakia, just to name a few.  The main page also contains a link to the Library of Congress Country Studies website where you can search for specific information or simply browse the site.

European History Sources

Links to general European history sites, World War I & II sites, country specific sites (i.e. British & Irish history), ancient and medieval history sites, and even sites pertaining to the history of science in Europe.  Note: The WWI section also contains interesting information and images regarding various information relevant to that era.  For example, there are sections that provide information regarding the types of aircraft flown in WWI, as well as brief biographies of some of the pilots.  Other links within the WWI section contain correspondence letters, manuscripts, documents, posters, literature and poetry.  Within the same section there is a link to some interesting Canadian Letters and Images.

The History Guide

'The History Guide' was created for students who wish to gain a better understanding of European history.  There is a 'Resources for Historians' link as well as links to various lectures on 'Ancient & Medieval History,' 'Early Modern European History,' 'Modern European Intellectual History,' and '20th Century Europe.'
